Rev. Helen R. Oates was appointed to serve Chapel Hill United Methodist Church July 1, 2013. In her 38 years of serving the church, she has pastored many congregations throughout the West Virginia Annual Conference. She also served the Annual Conference and the Bishop by spending 8 years as District Superintendent of the Southern District.
One of her gifts is bringing the Word of God to our culture and challenging us “to be the people God has called us to be.” She works along with our Director of Music Ministries to provide a worship experience as celebration. She is also gifted in listening, discerning and helping congregations heal and grow.
Pastor Helen earned her Master of Divinity Degree (MDiv) from Duke Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina. She is also a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon.
Helen married Rev. Paul M. Stadelman in 1984 and has 3 children, one step-son, 6 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
